WHY PELE`S LIFE TOUCHED ZAMBIA?
The Artist whose canvas was sold by many is the life of Pele in the literary circles.
His existence became a figure of speech when he was gifted with an amazing touch of football. For instance, John is a Pele in Soccer meaning that he is a talented player.
That’s how I came across this GOAT of his time. Pele was born in 1940 but his life touched me after 2010 or so when I read of his Golden expression of art through the pitch during an English class.
I needed not to wait to be convinced by an outsider through word of mouth because the piece of literature that I tapped from inspired me a lot.
I`m intrigued to appreciate the value that record keeping has upon posterity.
Just like Zambia, it will go down in the books of history that once upon a time we had Great Kalu, Esther Phiri, Dennis Liwewe, and Janny Sikazwe, to mention a few they were among great sports icons that lived within their time to break records in their respective fields.
The role of writing in society can never be underrated because some of these legends mentioned above will be forgotten completely if we decide not to preserve the heritage of their achievements.
The world today sheds a tear in remembering and celebrating Pele`s passion for soccer and life in different aspects because he did great things, and many have stored his name for inspirational reference around the globe.
In my view Zambia can pick a leaf from Brazil, we shouldn`t wait for such a time to remember that Barbra Banda once scored a double hat-trick at the Olympics making her the first woman to do so in history. Let`s continue celebrating our stars through storytelling by decorating their personality with honor while they can still receive the token of our love.
I have loved how the current crop of youths is using their talents and gifts to make our country known to the world.
Hope their efforts in carrying the flag higher with patriotism will never go unnoticed and be documented for ages.
Pele did it with Soccer and his records will never be erased because his reputation alone became a global trademark.
As our gallant sportsmen and women rise and strive to break records, they must also ensure that they uphold their integrity and never be misled by fame or any dubious act, although some might have been involved in one or two scandals it does not subject them to the adoption of children of a lesser god in that it gets better with time.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento also fondly known as Pele was:

the TIME of 100 most important of the centuries.
6 times the Brazilian league title winner.
